Getting Started

Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you've never worked with a therapist before. My goal is to make the process feel as straightforward and comfortable as possible. Here's what you can expect as we begin working together.

Before We Meet

Once you reach out through my contact form, I'll get back to you within 1–2 business days. If it seems like we may be a good fit, we'll schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. During this conversation, you'll have the opportunity to share what brings you to therapy, ask questions about my approach, and determine whether working together feels right for you.

Your First Session

Many people come to therapy worried they won't know what to say, or that they need to have everything figured out before they begin. You don't.

Our first session is simply a conversation. We'll spend time understanding what has brought you to therapy, what feels difficult right now, and what you hope might feel different. I'll ask questions to better understand your experiences, relationships, and the patterns that may be contributing to where you feel stuck. Together, we'll begin identifying goals for our work and determine whether it feels like a good fit to move forward.

Ongoing Therapy

Most clients begin by meeting weekly to establish momentum and develop a strong therapeutic foundation. As therapy progresses, we will regularly check in about your goals and determine together whether weekly, biweekly, or another schedule best meets your needs. Some clients come to therapy for support around a specific challenge, while others choose longer-term work focused on deeper self-understanding and lasting change.

You are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” detailing the anticipated costs of your mental health treatments. As per regulations, healthcare providers are obligated to furnish uninsured patients or those not utilizing insurance with an estimate of charges for psychotherapy services. You have the privilege to request a Good Faith Estimate for the complete projected expenses of any non-emergency healthcare, encompassing psychotherapy, from your chosen healthcare provider or any alternative provider prior to scheduling a service. Should you encounter a bill exceeding your Good Faith Estimate by at least $400, you retain the right to contest it.
