What to expect on your first visit…

Whether you have been to therapy before or if this is your first time meeting with a therapist, it can feel intimidating to share such personal aspects of one’s self, perhaps for the first time ever, with a complete stranger. I will honor the process of us getting to know one another, and work at a pace that you feel comfortable with.

We will first identify how you would like your life to be different, explore how you will know when this has been achieved, and review informed consent policies.

We will then spend the first several sessions exploring what brought you to therapy, and discussing You: your values, identity, family, friends, career or schooling, and habits. We will explore how your past informed your present while simultaneously starting to incorporate new behavioral strategies that may better serve your goals.

As we continue in our work together, we will routinely check in about what is working well for you. I will continue to invite you to share if you need something different from me.

Insurance Reimbursement

I am considered an out-of-network provider and can provide you with a monthly Superbill (a receipt of services) to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, which is dependent on your individual plan.

Good Faith Estimate

You are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” detailing the anticipated costs of your mental health treatments. As per regulations, healthcare providers are obligated to furnish uninsured patients or those not utilizing insurance with an estimate of charges for psychotherapy services. You have the privilege to request a Good Faith Estimate for the complete projected expenses of any non-emergency healthcare, encompassing psychotherapy, from your chosen healthcare provider or any alternative provider prior to scheduling a service. Should you encounter a bill exceeding your Good Faith Estimate by at least $400, you retain the right to contest it. It’s advisable to retain a copy or snapshot of your Good Faith Estimate for reference. For questions or details regarding your entitlement to a Good Faith Estimate, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
